Tailored Attorney Recruiting that Works for You
Candidates Overview - Tips and Tools

If you are going to do it, do it right ...

I have put together a few tips and links to help you re-establish the basic skills you will need to be successful.

1. EXIT STRATEGIES:
When deciding to leave your present employer, make sure you do it with character and respect. You do not want to burn bridges. Be gracious for the opportunity they have given you and the investment they have made in you.

2. INTERVIEWING:
Prepare for your interview by thoroughly researching the law firm or company you are going to. Arrive 5 minutes early and dress according to the dress code of the employer. Be respectful and consistent with everyone you meet-from the receptionist, the paralegals to the partners. During the interview, avoid disparaging remarks about a previous employer. Be understated, confident, and polite. Let your interviewer set the pace. And end it on a good note. Follow up with a thank-you email.

3. DO NOT POSTURE WITH THEM:
If this is a position you truly want, I encourage you to let your enthusiasm be known.

4. WORKING WITH RECRUITERS:
Meet face-to-face. Be candid. Ask for advice and feedback.
